Determining who to call for your home heating oil can be a difficult decision, especially if you are new to the area or new to using home heating oil. For homeowners unfamiliar with the process, it can be tempting to simply seek out the best price at the moment and not consider the long-term implications of the company you choose.
Focusing solely on the immediate financial question can lead to unpleasant surprises down the road. Instead, it’s important to consider all the benefits of choosing a local oil delivery company. Here are just five of the things you should consider when making that choice.
1. Better Customer Service
Local companies are rooted in the communities they serve. They see their customers every day in grocery stores, at school events, and around the neighborhood, which makes them more personally invested in providing great service.
As Sustainable Connections puts it:
“Local businesses often hire people with a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know their clients, customers, and patrons.”
If your heating oil provider is located just down the road, you’re far more likely to get personalized attention than if you’re calling an 800-number across the country.
2. Faster, More Reliable Oil Delivery
Long Island winters can bring freezing temperatures and nor’easters that delay travel and transportation. The last thing you want is to be left in the cold waiting for a delayed oil delivery.
A local oil delivery company has the advantage of being close by, which often means faster and more dependable service. At Express COD, our team monitors the local weather closely, preparing in advance to handle high-demand days and ensure you stay warm, no matter the forecast.
3. Service You Can Count On
At Express COD, we partner with Tragar Home Services to offer more than just on-time, reliable, and transparent pricing for your oil delivery. We make certain that if your lack of heat is due to a bigger problem than just an empty oil tank, we can get you a knowledgeable and experienced HVAC technician right away.
When your service company is your neighbor, they are much more likely to watch out for you and make sure you can stay warm all winter long.
4. Support for the Community
Choosing a local oil delivery company almost guarantees that the company employees will be your neighbors. Local companies employ your neighbors and friends. These are the people you see at the grocery store, school events, and church activities. Knowing they face their customers every day helps guarantee they take pride in a job well done.
When you choose a local delivery company, you are a face, a name, and a personality, not just a number on an order.
5. Support for the Local Economy
When you choose to go with a national or even regional oil delivery company, you have no idea exactly where your money is going. According to the American Independent Business Alliance, when you spend your money with a local oil delivery business, your entire community benefits. For every $100 you spend, $52.90 stays in your community. Whether it’s paying local wages, paying taxes locally, or donating to the community, local businesses keep more of your money circulating locally.
